Heidi Grevstad

Heidi has been hooking rugs since 2004 and enjoys all styles of rug hooking from fine shaded florals to primitives to geometrics. She has designed beginner rug hooking projects that are intended to give the beginning rug hooker a good foundation in stitching techniques, with room for embellishment if desired. She is also more than happy to help students find patterns from other designers. Heidi has attended McGown Western Teachers Workshop since 2017 and has taught beginning rug hooking workshops in Oregon and Washington. She has been honored to have two rugs accepted as finalists in Rug Hooking Magazine's "Celebrations" annual exhibition and magazine.

Heidi's Rockaway Rug Retreat beginners’ class will cover good stitching technique, plus all other basics of rug hooking such as choosing the right tools, drawing and transferring patterns, rug binding techniques, color planning, and more. She will have a supply of hooks, scissors, books, foundation cloth, red dot fabric, wool, patterns, frames and cutters on site - everything needed to get started in rug hooking.

Outside of rug hooking, Heidi has been a professional educator for over 35 years. She strives to understand what each student wants from their class experience and then works to manage class time to fit those needs. Group dynamics are important to her. This is your class experience! Let's make it the best it can be in our wonderful setting on the Oregon coast.
