Critter Creations
Come join this class and we will create beautiful rugs from your favorite pet or animal. Be it life-like or impressionistic, this class will help you to create a portrait of your favorite pet or animal. This low stress no fear class will explore different methods to hook a piece to achieve the desired result. I am ready to help you from design to finishing ideas. Wide and narrow cuts are welcome. Fine shading is not necessary to hook animals and I can advise you on dyeing as well as color planning.
We will explore eyes, ears and noses of a variety of animals. We will look at fur, hair, scales, and feathers. You can work in expressive colors or keep it very traditional, either way fun will be had.

Biography
I am a McGown certified teacher and have been hooking for over 20 years. I currently hook in Edmonton, Alberta where I am the learning and development officer for our local guild. I have instructed students in Canada, the US, Mexico and Iceland. I have had work in Celebrations magazine and published several articles for Rug Hooking Magazine and ATHA. Several of my rugs have won awards and the Royal Museum of Alberta has purchased one of my pieces. I completed a month long stay in Iceland as an artist in residence in 2016. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rug hooker I will enjoy having you in my class. I love all aspects of hooking from design to finishing and I’m comfortable with both wide and narrow cuts of all subjects. Animals and self designed pieces are my favorite things to teach.
